One of the newest additions to our growing selection of wines is a sweet, light-bodied red wine blended of Niagara and Fredonia grapes. It is named in honor of the historic Sheffield Rail Road Depot.

The Sheffield Rail Road Depot is an all-but-forgotten symbol of our railroading past that was once the lifeblood of this historic, rural community. The depot was a stopping off point for travelers to the area as well as locals that worked here. In its glory days, visitors had the option to stay at a number of local hotels/restaurants, some of which still exist today. Lumber mills and tanneries dotted the immediate landscape, while oil was booming in the surrounding areas. Although other roads existed, the railroad was the main artery connecting Sheffield to the outside world.

So, it is with great pride that Allegheny Cellars Winery offers Depot Red as a tribute to the Sheffield Railroad Depot; once the hub of activity that made this town prosper. In an effort to support the restoration of Sheffield’s Rail Road Depot, Allegheny Cellars Winery will donate one dollar for every bottle sold to help fund this important local project.
